Westcountry Broadcast provide a one stop shop for broadcasters requiring design, installation and support for new builds or refurbishment projects.

Atlantic FM is the new commercial radio station for Cornwall in the far south west of England. The station is owned by a consortium including Camel Media and the Tindle Radio Group. Westcountry Broadcast were appointed as the principal contractor for the whole build project from building walls to setting up the transmission processor!

The installation included two studios based around 30 channel Sonifex S2 mixers, Broadcast Bionics Phonebox software and RCS Master Control playout software. We also designed and built customised technical furniture for this project. The image above shows studio one.

 Southend Radio is the brand new commercial radio station in Southend on Sea in Essex. The project involved the construction of three studios, racks room, offices including a large open plan area, kitchen and conference room. The challenge was set when the shape of the (brand new) building was realised: it is an ellipse! The studios include Genesys 

 

playout with KLZ news software and Phonebox call handling. The mixers are all Sonifex S2 split consoles in Westcountry Broadcast furniture. Mic processing and STL protection are all achieved with Audessence units.

We also offer STL hardware in the form of CODECs from Prodys and Systembase and audio levellers and processors from Audessence. The Audessence ALPS1 is perfect for STL protection and we have installed many in this role. The Prodys Prontonet codec and decoder also provide an excellent AAC (or other algorithm) IP STL or inter site link. We have recently installed some of these on NHS net in the UK to link audio between hospital sites.
